Our Review
Scent:
I can smell the sweet woody, tropical fruit scent when I apply it. Once it’s in the hair, I can sometimes smell it but it will fade away in around 2 hrs.
Scoop:
I can scoop out the clay without adding any extra pressure.
Breakdown:
I can breakdown the clay easily and quickly. It breaks down like a cream. Easily one of the creamiest clays out there.
Application:
I can feel just a minor feeling of the clay which gave me some grip to style my hair. Pretty much no dryness experience in application.
Hold:
It’s a lightweight, medium hold clay. It doesn’t dry out to give hold. Instead, it stays pliable and makes my hair feel soft and smooth. I get less hold when I use 3 dime sized scoops and more hold when I use 3 normal scoops.
Shine:
It’s more of a natural shine.
Texture:
It has a soft texture that is not dry at all and can create some wide or fine separation due to how well the formula reacts to a comb. It’s truly versatile.
Endurance:
Joyride doesn’t settle on the hair but stays pliable and provides movement. Every now and then some strands will fall out of place. But I can always put it back and get back the shape once I use fingercomb or use a comb to restyle it.
Wash Out:
Everything comes off with just warm water.
Final Thoughts:
Joyride is a one of a kind clay. Most of the brands out there make matte, firm clay but this one is a medium clay with a natural finish. It’s beautifully made because of how creamy the clay is, how much movement I can get and it can be restyled whenever I need. It makes me more control over my hair and it feels healthy.
